As my wife and I wander the hills and valleys and beaches and swamps in search of captivating scenes in nature we are awed by the sheer beauty that our world has to offer. Each day is a sensory feast as we stand before the magnificance that is dished up by every dawning day. But everywhere we go we are reminded of the presence of the dominant species that dwells here. In almost every case we are forced to overlook the ignorance of humanity, the total disregard for the sacred beauty that is our home. Why someone tosses garbage from the car window, littering our roadsides and highways is beyond me. But trashing the wilderness is incomprehensible. The arrogant disregard for our planet, and the long term effects of these callous actions is beyond reason. To me it speaks nothing more than self-loathing and mental incompetence.

I couldn't have said that better myself. Our town has what is called "Beautify Londonderry" every spring and for the past 2 I recruited people to help clean up the road on which we live, a 2+ mile length where the same ignorant and callous people litter. It has been 3 months and already I am seeing new litter. It is frustrating to say the least!
Amen, brutha...Why trash the place? Even when I am smoking outside somewhere, when I am done, I flick the hot ash off and put the butt in my pocket until I find a trash can. Cheers!!
kerri: Yeah, I remember reading your post about that clean up. It really bothers me that people can be so insensitive about their environment.
Matt-Man: Thanks for stopping by. Be careful with that butt in the pocket thing. Could set your pants on fire if your not thorough.
